Peace Walker Contributes to Konami Profits Surge

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor MGS4 which also led to a company profit spike, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has contributed significantly to a Konami profit surge documented in their August 5, 2010's Consolidated Financial Results.

For the past quarter (ended June 30, 2010), Konami saw approximately ¥1,265,000,000 in net income, a 244.7% increase from the previous quarter and also a 345% increase relative to the same quarter a year ago.

Among other games, such as Pro Evolution Soccer and LovePlus, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is singled out multiple times in the report as one of the major factors for this past quarter's results along with a reference to Peace Walker's perfect 40/40 Famitsu score:

"METAL GEAR SOLID PEACE WALKER, the first sequel in the METAL GEAR series for the PSP, was launched in Japan in April 2010, and in North America and Europe in June 2010. Sales of this title progressed steadily, with the game receiving favorable reviews?it became the first PSP title to receive a perfect score of 40 points in an industry magazine?s cross review. Furthermore, co-op modes, etc., which leverage the characteristic features of handheld gaming devices, are being well received by hardcore METAL GEAR fans."
