Global Commenting and Sharing Features Enabled

The number of to-do projects for Metal Gear Solid: The Unofficial Site is dauntingly endless, and that's how we like it! We're still in what could be considered the restoration phase of the site with several content and functionality projects in the pipeline.

We've spent the past couple of weeks revising the back-end programming of the site, and while 95% of the site code-base has changed since the site's relaunch, unfortunately most of these changes are actually invisible to the end-user. There are a couple of small visible changes, though.

Global Commenting

Initially tested on a few of our news articles, users can now comment on and "like" nearly every page of the site from news to features to games.

Social Sharing

We live in a truly social era of the internet, and there's no reason you should have to enjoy Metal Gear Solid: The Unofficial Site alone. Our new "SHARE" widget allows you to tell your friends which page of the site currently has your attention using more than 300 social networks.

A side-effect of social networks like Twitter is that sometimes you don't have a lot of room to tell your friends what you're doing. We know "www.metalgearsolid.org" is a lot to type, so for situations where brevity is key, we've set up "mgst.us" as an alternate domain, and every page on our site, regardless of how long its real URL is, will now have a partner short URL you can use.
